CALL FOR ENTRIES: FUNCTIONAL AND SCULPTURAL TEAPOT EXHIBITION |

■ CALL FOR ENTRIES
“Functional and Sculptural Teapots” is a juried and invitational exhibition to be held in December at JRB Art at The Elms Gallery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This exhibit will showcase some of the best examples of contemporary teapots, in a variety of media, which are being created nationally. Each artist can submit up to three entries, with one full view and one alternate view of each object. The dates of the exhibition are December 4, 2009 through December 26, 2009. The exhibition will be publicized regionally and nationally.

There will be two purchase awards.
■ JURORS
Charleen Weidell, MFA serves as the Chair of the Art Department and head of the Metals program at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. She has also taught at Metropolitan State College of Denver, San Diego State University and Design Institute San Diego. She is the Grand Prize winner of the Society of American Silversmiths 2000 National Student Silver Design Competition. Weidell's work has been featured in numerous national exhibitions, several publications, and a number of collections. Her Tart Server piece is included in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection in London, England. Weidell created the University of Central Oklahoma Presidential Medallion that was worn for the first time at the University's May 2008 commencement ceremonies.
Barbara Broadwell, MFA is a sculptor who uses clay as her primary medium and supplements it with a variety of media. The combination of varied materials, especially found objects, transmits a cultural history that is essential to her work. Broadwell has a BFA in sculpture from Sonoma State University and an MFA in ceramics from San Diego State University. She currently serves as an assistant professor of sculpture at The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. Her drawings and sculptures have been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally.
■ JRB ART AT THE ELMS
JRB Art at The Elms presents a diverse roster of emerging, established, and internationally exhibited artists who create in a wide range of media including: paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, glass, fine crafts, functional objects, fiber art and photographs. This award-winning gallery in Oklahoma City’s Paseo Arts District, with its historic 4,500 square foot exhibition space, changes its exhibits monthly in a gracious environment that fosters a dialogue between the arts and the larger community while providing quality art for first time buyers as well as individual, corporate, and museum collections. ■ PUBLICITY
The Functional and Sculptural Teapot Exhibition will be publicized regionally and nationally. The gallery reserves the right to photograph any accepted work for the purpose of publicity.
■ ELIGIBLE MEDIA
Works produced in any of the craft media: clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper, wood, or any combination of craft media is acceptable. Entries must be the complete work of the submitting artist. Kits or commercially designed works will not be accepted. All work must have been completed within the past three years.
■ FORM OF ENTRY
Entries must be submitted in digital format only.
■ DIGITAL IMAGES and FILE LABELING
Digital images in 300 dpi - 4”x6” (1200x1800 pixels) must be in JPG format. For publishing and jurying purposes, the images may be resized. One full view and one alternate view per entry will be accepted for up to three entries. Digital images must be labeled as follows: (Last Name) _ (First Initial)_(Title of Work)_(Medium)_(Size of Work).jpg
■ SIZE LIMITATIONS
All work must be ready for installation. Submissions are limited to a weight of no more than 75 pounds per entry. All entries must be able to fit through a normal size door.
■ ENTRY
Deadline for entry is September 10th. Digital image files should be submitted on CD in a JPG format. There is no entry fee. Works will be juried from digital image files. No files larger than 15MB please. Include a single reference sheet with thumbnail prints representing the images on the disc. Next to each thumbnail, include artist’s name, title, media, dimensions, price and file name. The file name should be the artist’s last name and first word of the title piece. Please remember to label CD with artist’s name, phone number and email address.
■ NOTIFICATION
All artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than October 1, 2009. Notification will be by mail and email. If accepted, we require a photograph of the artist.
■ DELIVERY AND RETURN OF WORKS
Accepted works must be received by November 1, 2009. Deliveries can be made to JRB Art at The Elms from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 2810 North Walker Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73103. Shipped works should be shipped prepaid in a reusable crate. The Gallery will be responsible for return shipping.
■ LIABILITY AND AGREEMENT
Responsibility for Loss or Damage, Insurance Coverage. The Gallery shall be responsible for the safekeeping of all consigned Artworks while they are in its custody. The Gallery shall be strictly liable to the Artist for their loss or damage (except for damage resulting from flaws inherent in the Artworks) to the full amount the Artist would have received from the Gallery if the Artworks had been sold. The Gallery shall provide the Artist with all relevant information about its insurance coverage for the Artworks if the Artist requests this information. Sending an entry to this exhibition shall imply an agreement on the part of the sender to all conditions set forth above.
■ PRICING AND SALES
Participating artists will price their work. All works must be for sale. Pricing should be included with submission. JRB Art at The Elms will receive a 50% Commission on all works sold. Following the end of the show on December 26, 2009, artist commission checks will be paid after all checks and credit card transactions are cleared.
