Carla Anglada Biography

Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Carla Anglada moved to Oklahoma City where she finished high school and college. She attended Oklahoma City University where she was awarded the Petree Art Scholarship and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts. She then moved to Taos, enrolled in graduate courses at the University of New Mexico and went on to study at the Taos Institute of Arts and the Fechin Institute. Carla has studied under a number of artists including David Leffel, Michelle Cooke, Sherrie McGraw, Gregg Kreutz, Louis Tedesco and forensic artist, Betty Pat Gatliff. For two years, she worked extensively with Louis Tedesco in his studio, learning about the Chiaroscuro method used by Rembrandt, Caravaggio and many other artists of that era. She also gained knowledge and inspiration from the Dutch Masters and women artists of the past, such as Artemesia Gentileschi and Anne Vallayer-Coster. Anglada’s work can be found in private collections in Washington, DC, Florida, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and New York. Carla is a member of Oil Painters of America.
