BIOGRAPHY

Melodee Martin Ramirez Biography

As a child there were wonderful family vacations.  Leaving the city and all the concrete behind, the family would head for the great woods and mountains.  Lost in the Rockies or the Sierras, there was camping and hiking for a brief couple of weeks in those deep and mysterious woods.

Born in Oklahoma City, relocated to Texas at the age of 5, she is now living in a house surrounded by woods, looking at a lake where hiking and kayaking continues in a secluded setting with her cherished family all around.  The subject of paintings is mostly nature, woods, water, sunsets, birds and wildlife, all seen from her home and travels. These large oil paintings are created in her studio at home and reflect the woods, sunsets over the lake and the large birds she often sees and photographs from her home. There is the link to mystery every day.

Melodee Martin Ramirez earned her M.F.A. in Painting through a full scholarship at the University of Dallas where she graduated with honors.  For the last 20 years she has been a full-time professor and coordinator for the Art History area and an instructor for painting in oil, acrylic and watercolor.  Painting brings joy and art history is what her chosen subject to read for pleasure.  She encourages her students to embrace a subject that inspires them as she has done.

Her paintings can be seen at A.H. Belo Corporation Foundation, Dallas, Texas; Lexus Corporation, Texas;  Communities Foundation of Texas purchased by the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation, Dallas, Texas; Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, and local exhibitions in the DFW area.  Most recently she was selected as the artist of the year for the Langdon Review.  Annually they publish a journal and have a weekend event celebrating visual and performing arts.
